About Procurement Union

Procurement Union is a community-powered AI companion and knowledge hub for procurement professionals. We exist to give every buyer, category manager and CPO the leverage that used to take a whole team: grounded answers, real templates, honest benchmarks and a network of practitioners who have solved the same problem before.

We are based in the UAE and serve procurement teams worldwide. Procurement Union FZ-LLC was incorporated in 2026 and the Companion has been live with paying subscribers since July 2026.

Built by procurement, for procurement

Most AI tools for procurement are built by software teams looking in from the outside. Procurement Union was built from the inside. Its founder has spent his career running sourcing events, negotiating contracts, consolidating supply bases and building procurement functions where none existed. The problems the Companion solves are the ones he lived: too much scope for too few people, knowledge locked in individual heads, and hours lost to research and drafting that should go into judgement, negotiation and stakeholder work.

Our position is simple. AI will not replace procurement professionals. Procurement professionals who learn to work well with AI will redefine what great procurement looks like.

Meet the founder

Bogdan Asproiu is the founder of Procurement Union. He brings 20+ years of senior procurement leadership across multiple industries and geographies, and has worked in the UAE since 2018.

Most recently he built a procurement functions from zero inside a fast-growing global payments technology companies shaped by acquisitions. That meant mapping the business before writing policy, consolidating duplicated suppliers across entities, building a spend taxonomy with Finance, renegotiating payment terms, and running competitive tenders on contracts that had never been challenged. Within three years the function had moved from cost control to being redesigned as a profit centre offering procurement services externally. The full anonymised case study is published as "How to Build a Procurement Organisation from Scratch in the AI Era".

Bogdan writes about procurement and AI on this blog and on Medium, and speaks on how AI moves procurement from bottleneck to enabler. Connect with him on LinkedIn.

Where UB2S came from

UB2S stands for Understanding Business, Suppliers and Spend. Bogdan authored it while building that function from scratch, because every new procurement environment presented the same trap: pressure to act before you understand what the business values, who it depends on and where the money actually goes.

UB2S fixes the order. The business lens comes first (stakeholders, decision rights, the real issues list), then the supplier lens (critical suppliers, duplication, inherited arrangements nobody has questioned), then the spend lens (a Finance-aligned taxonomy, an agreed savings baseline, honest visibility metrics). Only then do you challenge the status quo and score maturity against the five pillars of our operating model: Strategy and Governance, Source-to-Contract, Procure-to-Pay, Supplier and Risk Management, and Analytics, Performance and Technology Enablement.

UB2S is not only for new joiners. It works for a new category, a maturity assessment, a post-acquisition integration or standing up a function from nothing. Read the full method on the UB2S page.

What we build

  • Kato, the Procurement Union Companion: a procurement-native AI assistant that reasons with UB2S logic and answers sourcing, negotiation and supplier questions with cited, grounded responses.

  • Theca, the knowledge library: a curated library of procurement frameworks, RFx templates and benchmarks, organised around the five pillars.

  • The community: practitioners who contribute anonymised knowledge under our Contributor License Agreement, so the library gets better with every member.

The Companion runs on infrastructure we control, with no third-party inference APIs. Your spend, contract and supplier data stays private, and enterprise customers can deploy it on their own premises.

Recognition
